House Cat

Yesterday is always better than today
I’m pessimistic you might say

No I’m just having a bad day since 1964
I’ve never told you before
That I just want to be a house cat and nothing more

Here I’m whining again
Now I need something to melt my brains

Reflection only breeds disdain
Until it drives you insane
And it’s not beneath my dignity to flee
